William Smith is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He is a professor at The University of Utah and author of numerous articles on race, identity, psychology, and higher education. He is most well-known for his contributions to the study of what is known as "racial battle fatigue". During this week's show, Chauncey and Professor Smith talk about racism and trauma, "racial battle fatigue" and learning, how colleges and universities are failing students of color, police brutality, and if videos of police violence against black people are a type of contemporary lynching photography.

During this week's podcast, Chauncey shares his thoughts on the new movies "Split" and "The Founder". Chauncey also reinforces the importance of the little things in life and then does some dream interpretation that involves toilets, religion, and Donald Trump. A warning: the latter does not go well.

I know this episode was pre-Election results, but I was experiencing this profound sense of dread towards the end of the episode, as I felt your musings and warning prescient, it seemed to me you were spot on, and the fears or concerns you expressed were ones I was experiencing at the time as well, having this sense that we are in for something on par is a multi-minority genocide, or something akin to an intentional culling through use of government services as a weapon coupled with overt abuse of power in police state fashion and Nazi style support by the governing base. On the matter of dreams, I had very disturbing dreams leading up to the election, now it seems I actually don't remember them anymore, I wake in a semi-rested state for the purpose of relief, but basically it's as though I no longer dream. I haven't experienced this before.
